Maintaining a presence on social media that reflects your goals as an organization and promotes brand awareness can be tricky. Plus you probably don’t have a lot of time to dedicate to an elaborate social media strategy.
Fortunately, social media is not rocket science! There is a way to keep up your online presence without committing a ton of time.
First, determine all your active accounts.
For example, Iris is a new business owner. She opened up her first hair salon six months ago. She has a Facebook, Instagram and YouTube account.
Then determine the purpose of each account.
Iris wants to use Facebook to build a community around beauty and self care as well as engage with the community of other business owners in her area. She wants to use Instagram to showcase her beautiful clients and talented hairdressers. She uses YouTube for long-form tutorials on intricate pieces.
Next, determine the type of content you want to share.
Iris wants to use Facebook for community centered announcements or special events. She wants to use Instagram to engage with her clients and promote awareness of her business. She wants to use YouTube to educate her clients.
Lastly, schedule the content.
Iris plans to re-post or promote community building announcements every Monday and Wednesday. She’ll also share a new hairstyle or general atmosphere of the salon on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Fridays or Saturdays she’ll publish a long-form educational video on YouTube. Having a content plan and scheduled out allows Iris to work on other aspects of her business without worrying about her social media falling flat. She also has the freedom to be spontaneous with her social media when she has the time.
